A stroll into town for those arriving in time.  Pontoon drinks followed by dinner at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club.

    • Bradwell Marina & Osea Island, River Blackwater
    Registration is closed

Brian Clough and Andrew Obst on their boat Alice are      arranging an East Coast Rally on the River Blackwater over  the Early May Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday 4th –  Monday 6th May).

    THE PLAN

    Saturday 4th May

Boats and crew should make their way to Bradwell Marina for the Saturday evening for either a BBQ or a visit to the nearby Green Man (to be confirmed).

    Sunday 5th May

Boats and crew to enjoy a short morning sail up the Blackwater to anchor off Osea Island for the night, and tender ashore for a BBQ on the beach.

Tides are approximately HW 9.15am and 9.38pm on the 4th, and 11.07am and 11.24pm on the 6th May. The idea is that more distant sailors can make it in daylight, whilst also enabling everyone to make it back in one tide from the anchorage off Osea Island (including those from the Medway.

Please register your interest in attending by emailing bclough53@gmail.com as soon as possible, so that a group booking can be made with the marina. Thank you.

We always encourage our members to remain safe on the water by training their skills through Competent Crew/Day Skipper qualifications.

This year, we are taking advantage of the May Bank Holiday weekend and offering members an opportunity to refine their sailing skills by joining our Sail & Learn event, which provides for attendees to obtain the formal "Competent Crew" qualification.

This is a 5 day course, with the other date being over following weekend, Sat 11th May 2024 – Sun 12th May 2024 .

This event will be hosted by our Rear Commodore Training, Tomas, and our commercial partner, Commodore Yachting (www.commodore-yachting.com) and therefore there will be a (heavily discounted) charge.

The event will start on 4 May 2024 at Commodore Yachting's Gosport Offices, whereby Tomas will spend time with the attendees familiarising them with their boat and preparing for the days ahead.  Please be able to arrive late afternoon/evening of 3 May 2024.  Accommodation on the yacht and training is included.  You will return to Gosport on 6 May 2024.

Your skipper, Tomas, will be in charge for the weekend and ensure attendees gain as much experience on the water as possible.

In addition, it is hoped that Tomas will bring the training boat and all attendees along to the larger members' event.

Please register here for your discount code and book via the following link:

Our monthly London Social has been an important part of S&CA life for decades.  With many of our members living in and around London, this has been a key forum for meeting skippers and crew, making plans, and sharing sailing stories. It's a great way for prospective members to get a feel for the Club and for new members to get to know people before setting sail.  You’re free to come along to this event but it helps us if you book so we know you’re coming.

Whether you're a current S&CA member, or thinking of joining the Club, you are welcome to join us for the London Social from 7pm on the second Wednesday of the month.  We meet upstairs at Retro Bar, 2 George Court, London, WC2N 6HH, which is just off The Strand near Charing Cross.

For early birds, a meal at 17:45 at Pizza Express, 450 Strand, London, WC2R 0TG is organised as a separate event. If you wish to attend the Pizza Express meal, please book using the separate event booking.

If you can’t make the pizza, the Landlord is more than happy for you to bring food or even order a pizza for delivery.

For those who live further afield, if the occasional journey into London isn't practical, keep an eye out for local social events (e.g. Brighton and Bristol). If you're keen to attend or help organise a local social elsewhere in the country, please contact:  social@gaysailing.org.uk
